‘SNOW-BALL’ EFFECT
For the show’s finale, model Luna Bijl appeared in a ‘snow-ball’ dress encapsulating the collection: a light feather skirt paired with an embroidered bodice of snowflakes in vinyl glinting with gold.

The little black dresses of the collection in organza, gazar, tulle or chiffon are adorned with satin ribbons and sequin embroideries. Created with the CHANEL’s Métiers d’art, the different pleats bring volumes and textures to the evening looks Spring-Summer 2019.
In tune with the lightness and style of the 18th century, the main source of inspiration behind the new Haute Couture collection, a lingerie dress in white pleated chiffon is interpreted in ennobled lace.
The know-how of the Haute Couture ateliers at 31 rue Cambon in Paris comes together in this white organza dress sprinkled with floral bouquets embroidered from multicolored feathers that are hand-painted before being assembled. The nipped-waist silhouette opens into a voluminous, ethereal corolla skirt amplified by tulle underskirts created from several dozen meters of fabric.
Depicting a graphic reinterpretation of Egyptian motifs, a long evening dress with feather marquetry by Maison Lemarié reflects the intricate know-how of the Maisons d’art.
Flounced frills in silk chiffon are trimmed with blue rickrack in the Lemarié ateliers. Once sewn together, they build the sleeves and the hem of the dress printed with ocean liners and wind roses. The look is worn with a tweed beret, a leather minaudière, white tights and Mary Janes for a Cruise 2018/19 allure.
In a play of transparencies, a striped dress from the Cruise collection. Feathers are dyed in shades of red and blue before being trimmed by hand. They are later sewn one by one over white silk organza and placed between transparent layers.
Inside the Maison Lemarié ateliers, the feathers are dyed in blue and sewn between layers of transparent vinyl. Recalling the motifs of a sailor top, these feathered stripes are then sent to the CHANEL ateliers to be assembled.
Hand-painted feathers by Maison LEMARIÉ frame an evening look from the CHANEL Fall-Winter 2018/19 collection as if they have drifted in and attached themselves to the shoulders, cuffs and hem of the tweed dress. These details in matching tones elongate and structure the season’s long tubular silhouette.
